Write a Love Song for Your Wife

“As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.” – Song of Solomon 2:2

God devoted an entire book of the Bible to a love song between a married couple. Why would He give us this example if He didn’t expect us to do similar things to help our marriages? As a husband, I am commanded to love my wife (Ephesians 5:25), and that command implies that I have a responsibility to show my wife that she is loved. Writing a love song is a great way to do that, and it’s not as hard as you might think. Here’s a quick and easy method that you can use to write a song for your wife:

  1. Find a song that expresses the same sentiment that you want in your song for your wife.
  2. Write out the lyrics of the song that you found.
  3. Write your own lyrics next to the original lyrics.
  4. Make sure that your lyrics have the same number of syllables per line as the original.
  5. Think of a title for your song.
  6. Now sing it to your wife, and impress her with your incredible musical talent.

It really is that easy, and your wife will appreciate the sentiment no matter how corny your lyrics are. Go ahead and take some time this week to present your wife with a love song just for her. Who knows where a simple song might lead.

After you’ve sung to your wife, you might want to commemorate the occasions by turning your song into a piece of art. Places like Walmart, CVS, Staples, Office Max, and Walgreens all offer services for custom art work. You can print the lyrics of your song on a coffee mug, a t-shirt, or a framed canvas at very reasonable prices. I chose to put my love song on a canvas that we now have in our bedroom.

As you can see, it doesn’t take much work to get something that looks nice. I just used a font that my wife likes to put the words on top of a parchment background and a silhouette. You can do this for free on Canva, and I’d be glad to help you with it.

If you really want to impress your wife, you can hire a composer on Fiverr to write an original tune for your song. This can get a bit pricey depending on how complex you want to get, but I was able to get sheet music, a fully orchestrated backing track, and even a professional recording of my song for less than $300. You can listen to final product in the video below. If you’d like to do this too, I’d be more than willing to share a few pointers from my own experience.
